ESSA Asbestos

Following on from our enquires regarding hazardous substances such as asbestos in uncertified safe and cabinets that have been sold into the Irish market, ESSA has now added a workshop on this subject to the agenda of the ESSA-General Assembly to be held in Frankfurt 13 - 14 November 2019.

The aim of the workshop is to create an "ESSA statement", for manufacturers, distributors and service technicians.

During the presentation examples will be mentioned which for instance use asbestos and a "FuP study" regarding asbestos in safes of 1991 will be presented. In addition, the participants can involve themselves by exposing other examples of hazardous substances.

With the data received during the workshop the association will create an "ESSA statement", which can be used by manufacturers, distributors and service technicians.

ESSA e.V. is the leading international association of the physical security industry. The Association was established in 1967 as Forschungs- und Prüfgemeinschaft Geldschränke und Tresoranlagen e.V. (FuP) by the companies that were most active in the security market in Germany at that time. The aim was to develop standards in order to enable comparisons of the physical security products as well as measurements at the different security grades and in order to provide the industry with a certain level of transparency, to ensure high quality standards and fair competition.
