The AIS Safe List's Asbestos Problem According To The HSA

The AIS Safe List's Asbestos Problem According To The HSA
A Legislation & Enforcement notice entitled “Asbestos Risks In Safes And Fire-Resistant Cabinets” issued by the Health And Safety Authority of Ireland (HSA) issued on the 21st of October 2019.
This notice makes it clear that hundreds of safes listed in the UK's Association of Insurance Surveyor's (AIS) "Safe List" which the AIS has said, is "appropriate for use in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Eire" should be presumed to contain asbestos and their sale is illegal.
We wrote to the AIS safe committee on the 3rd of November 2019 and offered to share all information we had gathered with the AIS in a spirit of cooperation and in the interests of health and safety.
We also asked that the UK's Association Of Insurance Surveyors now formally withdraw the statement that the AIS safe list is “appropriate” for use in the Republic of Eire. To date we have received no reply.
