Tested And Certified In Europe:
Uncertified safes, in particular coming from suppliers in the U.K. and Northern Ireland, are still being misrepresented in the Republic of Ireland as having insurance or fire ratings they simply don’t have anywhere in Europe. These claims are usually based on either references to the EN1143-1 standard by unaccredited certification bodies such as the LPCB (UK) or “insurance listings” from official sounding UK organisations such as the Association of Insurance Surveyors (AiS) that have no connection with the Irish insurance industry or the Irish Safes Ratings Group.
All of the certified safes we list are certified in Europe to EN1143-1 by one or more of the four main accredited European certification bodies. ECB-S, VdS, SBSC and CNPP.
A certified fire safe must be tested to the EN15659 standard by a certification body with European accreditation according to ISO/IEC 17065:2012 in order to have a valid fire rating. This accreditation is confirmation of competence according to ISO/IEC 17065:2012 to carry out the certification of the specific fire safe listed on the test certificate in accordance with the relevant European fire resistance standards.
